With seven matches still to play, there are 21 points up for grabs in the Bundesliga. Albert Riera’s Eintracht are currently seventh as they enter the final phase of the 2025/26 season, which starts with a home game against 1. FC Köln on Sunday 5 April at Deutsche Bank Park (kick-off 17:30 CEST).

Change at the helm for KölnIn the wake of their last Bundesliga match, a 3-3 draw at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach, Köln parted ways with head coach Lukas Kwasniok. His previous number two René Wagner has taken the reins of the team that currently sits 15th in the table. Wagner has brought Armin Reutershahn in as his assistant – an experienced figure and one who knows Eintracht very well, having worked alongside Friedhelm Funkel from 2004 to 2009 as well as Niko Kovac and Adi Hütter between 2016 and 2021 in the heart of Europe. The 66-year-old was part of Eintracht’s DFB Cup-winning staff in 2018.

Uzun full of confidence“I’m sure that we’ll put in a good performance,” said Can Uzun ahead of the match. “We’ve already shown this season that we can react positively to defeats and that’s exactly what I’m expecting from us as a team. We’ll give it everything we’ve got to get the win and I know we can do it.” The Eagles got the three points in the reverse fixture in Cologne, with goals from Arthur Theate, Mo Dahoud and Jonathan Burkardt (2) securing the win in a 4-3 thriller.

What the stats say

Köln are without a win in the Bundesliga in seven matches, with their last victory coming against Wolfsburg (1-0) back on 30 January. The last time they picked up three points away from home was on 3 October 2025, when they won 1-0 in Hoffenheim. Eintracht, meanwhile, have taken maximum points from their three home games under Riera against Mönchengladbach, Freiburg and Heidenheim, keeping clean sheets in all three to boot.

“We’re all pumped for the final stage of the season,” said Ansgar Knauff ahead of the clash on Easter Sunday. Forza SGE!
