PREVIEW: Manchester City and Arsenal clash in possible title decider

Manchester City will host Arsenal tomorrow afternoon in a potential title deciding clash at the Etihad.

Whilst the Gunners currently top the Premier League table, many are backing Manchester City to end the season with the title due to Arsenal’s recent nervy performances and lack of results in decisive games. One of those decisive moments came less than a month ago, at Wembley, when the Citizens picked up a 2-0 win over Arsenal to win themselves the Carabao Cup. The reverse fixture in the league, back in September, saw the sides play out a 1-1 draw with Erling Haaland and Gabriel Martinelli getting on the scoresheet. Arsenal are six points clear at top of the league, however City have a game in hand and also tomorrow night, with wins in both enough to see them jump ahead on goal difference.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta spoke with the media ahead of tomorrow’s clash on just how important it could prove to be. “It’s certainly the most important one because it’s the next one. We have earned the right to be in this position, to be challenging and with the possibility to win and the opportunity to win on Sunday, arguably against the best team and the best manager that this league has ever seen. That’s a huge privilege, and we cannot wait to play the game. We’re going to prepare the game to win it, that’s for sure, and we see that as a big opportunity for us.”

Pep Guardiola also had his say, on the title race looking ahead to tomorrow afternoon. “It is six points. It is not a short distance but we have a chance to do it. That is the situation we are in. It depends on our behaviour and everything will be said on Sunday. Our fans have sold out. Everything is perfect to play a game.

“Of course, we respect them so much and the quality they have. I have no doubts about that, but it’s about how we approach tactically and mentally. That is all I am concerned about.”

The match is due to take place on Sunday April 19th, and kick-off is scheduled for 4:30pm (UK time.)
