Aston Villa have 2 points to their name this season and occupy 19th position in the table. In their last outing, Unai Emery's team drew 1-1 against Brentford (Carabao Cup 2025/26).

The last meeting between the two teams ended with Aston Villa winning 3-0.

The Fan Zone

Neil Dunworth (For The Love of Paul McGrath): Aston Villa scored a goal!!!

We’re back!! Well not really. Unai Emery did have a better performance against Everton and again Brentford in the League Cup but alas still no win.

Villa will be going to a bouyant Stadium of Light hoping they can turn things around. Villas away record is not their strength but I think Emery will be looking to contain more than create again much to the frustration of Villa fans.

The good news is they will have Bouba Kamara back and may have Amadou Onana back to bolster their midfield. Tielemens alas will be absent along with Andres Garcia and Ross Barkley.

Villa will be looking to see Harvey Elliott maybe from the start and with Jadon Sancho working his way to fitness, Villa will be hoping they can pack a punch from the bench and hold some firepower in reserve.

While I am always hopeful for a Villa win I will be happy with Villa not losing this game as long as there is at least a heartbeat of creativity and fluidity in their attacking play.

Heart says 1-2 but head says 1-1

Prediction: 1-2
