Promise David ‘unlikely to join’ Leeds amid relegation battle

Leeds' January plans have taken a knock, with Promise David considered unlikely to move to Yorkshire while the 49ers draw up targets to aid Daniel Farke's survival push.

talkSPORT reports that the Union Saint-Gilloise forward is unlikely to sign up for a relegation fight, while Claret and Hugh revealed in November that Leeds and West Ham were set to battle for the Canada international this winter.

David has 10 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this season and has been a standout for the Belgian club, who are playing in the UEFA Champions League.

Leeds' options elsewhere have also cooled, with Harry Wilson keen to remain at Fulham and Como determined to keep Martin Baturina.

Despite taking four points from Chelsea and Liverpool, Leeds still face a fight at the wrong end of the table. Defeat to Brentford on Sunday could drop Farke's side back into the bottom three if West Ham beat Aston Villa.

With only three Premier League games before the window opens, changing perceptions in time for David, who Jesse Marsch admires, looks unlikely. The clarity at least allows Leeds to focus quickly on targets more willing to embrace a relegation battle in a tricky market.
