Italy head into the World Cup play-off with renewed optimism after years of attacking uncertainty. Under new coach Gennaro Gattuso, the Azzurri have developed multiple attacking options ahead of their semi-final against Northern Ireland on March 26, 2026.
After missing out on qualification in both 2018 and 2022, pressure is mounting inside and outside the country to finally return to the World Cup. That anticipation has already sparked interest in World Cup bets on Boomerang-bet, as fans begin to assess Italy’s chances.
Gattuso has often relied on a two-man attack, and the partnership between Mateo Retegui and Moise Kean has been one of the most encouraging signs since September.
Retegui, the 2024-25 Serie A top scorer, has carried his form into the new season, netting eight goals in 12 appearances for Al-Qadsiah. His growing influence at international level has made Serie A betting tips on Betovo increasingly relevant for followers of the Azzurri.
Kean’s club form with Fiorentina has been inconsistent, but his impact for Italy has been immediate, scoring four goals in three matches under Gattuso, a factor reflected in Italian football odds on Ivibet ahead of the play-off.

Beyond the starting pair, Gattuso has further depth. Gianluca Scamacca has adapted well under Atalanta coach Raffaele Palladino, while 20-year-old Francesco Pio Esposito continues to gain experience with Inter and the national team.
With decisive fixtures approaching, some supporters are also exploring the registration bonus on Crownplay as excitement builds around Italy’s World Cup play-off campaign.
Despite the improved attacking outlook, Gattuso insists mentality remains the key issue.
“The problem is not tactical. Every system has pros and cons,” he said in November. “Right now, we must work on our fragility. When we do things right, we are competitive.”
Italy may still have work to do, but for the first time in years, they approach a World Cup play-off with genuine belief.
