Promotion hero John Ruddy agrees deal for Wolves return | OneFootball

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves have agreed a deal to re-sign former goalkeeper John Ruddy. The 39-year-old will return as third-choice, replacing Dan Bentley after his move to Coventry City last week.

Sam Johnstone was not involved as Wolves reached the Carabao Cup third round with a 2-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night.

Ruddy first joined Wolves in 2017 on a free from Norwich City and made 72 appearances across five seasons at Molineux.

Most of those came in his first campaign, when he was virtually ever-present as Nuno Espirito Santo’s team won promotion from the Championship.

After leaving in 2022, he spent two years with Blues, then the past two seasons with Newcastle without a competitive appearance, before being released at the start of the summer. He has one England cap from 2012.

The goalkeeping department is expected to change further before next week’s transfer deadline. Jose Sa is likely to remain number one, and there is an expectation Johnstone will move on, with a number two to arrive in his place.

Several other exits are anticipated. Ki-Jana Hoever has joined Sparta Prague for about £1.7 million.
