Promotion hero John Ruddy completes Wolves return | OneFootball

John Ruddy has completed a return to Wolves as third-choice goalkeeper, replacing Dan Bentley following his move to Coventry City last week.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 39-year-old joins after being released by Newcastle at the start of the summer.

Ruddy first arrived in 2017 on a free following his departure from Norwich City, making 72 appearances across a five-year stay at Molineux.

Most of those came in his first season, when he was a near ever-present in the side that won promotion from the Championship under Nuno Espirito Santo.

After leaving in 2022, he spent two years with Blues, then the previous two campaigns on Newcastle’s books without a competitive appearance. He won his only England cap in 2012.

Wolves’ goalkeeping department is expected to change further before next week’s transfer deadline, with Jose Sa likely to remain No.1. There is an expectation Sam Johnstone will move on, with a new No.2 to arrive in his place.

Johnstone was not involved as Wolves won 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night to reach the Carabao Cup third round.
