PSG and Arsenal’s top brass are bound by strong, often discreet ties that have grown steadier since the Super League shock.

According to L'Équipe, only five players have represented both clubs, Nicolas Anelka, Mikel Arteta, David Luiz, Lassana Diarra and Kaba Diawara. They have met seven times, two wins each and three draws, with an eighth due on Saturday in Budapest in the Champions League final at 18:00.

Nasser al-Khelaïfi and Stan Kroenke work closely on several fronts, including the potential arrival of the NBA in Europe. Kroenke owns the Denver Nuggets, while Al-Khelaïfi’s QSI and personal ventures keep him active in the United States.

Kroenke has ties to Arctos, the US fund that bought 12.5% of PSG in 2024, and to KKR, which is finalising its takeover of Arctos. That deal does not affect PSG.

Arsène Wenger and Thierry Henry also link Paris and London. QSI long courted Wenger for the Paris project, and he retains strong ties with Qatar.

In 2021 Arsenal joined the 12 Super League founders before the plan was swiftly dropped, while PSG fought the breakaway. Arsenal left the ECA that year then returned months later, with the body now called EFC.

Tim Lewis, a director in 2020 then executive vice-chair, became a flashpoint, seen in Paris as a chief architect of the breakaway and out of touch. His exit last September eased relations, and successor Richard Garlick is well regarded. Lewis was at Selhurst Park last weekend, invited by Crystal Palace.
