Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of securing their first defensive reinforcement of the summer transfer window. The capital club should be announcing the arrival of Eintracht Frankfurt Willian Pacho.
The capital club would have beaten Liverpool for the Ecuadorian defender, as the Reds reportedly had their eyes on him. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal includes a fixed fee of €40 million plus add-ons and a five-year contract for Pacho.
Payment terms have also been settled, and the documents will be reviewed within the next 24 hours. After that, Pacho will travel for a medical later this week.
Markus Krösche, the general manager of Eintracht Frankfurt, recently spoke to L’Équipe about Pacho and the traits that the 22-year-old possesses.
“Willian is a smart player who really pays attention,” Krösche said (h/t Paris Fans). “He has a knack for putting things into place quickly and has impressive athletic abilities, using his body with both precision and cleverness. In Frankfurt, he managed to win everyone over in just a few weeks.”
Since arriving in Frankfurt in 2023, Pacho has made 44 appearances with the German side and registered two assists. It will be interesting to see how long the player takes to adapt as he’ll be counted right away to start the 2024-25 season with the injuries to the center-back position.
