According to L'Équipe, a growing band of Paris Saint-Germain supporters are criss-crossing France and the globe to attend away matches, often at heavy personal expense. For many, the bill over the past two seasons has topped €10,000.
Two regulars, Daniel and Alex, properly met after a wild night on Montjuïc on 16 April 2024, ending up at El Prat airport without sleep after Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final exit. The tie finished 4-1 on the night, after a 2-3 first leg.
Alex, who works in banking, says he has made 29 of 33 Champions League away trips in four years. To cut costs they usually skip hotels, including for the final in Budapest, flying to Cluj on Friday then taking about seven hours by bus return before heading back to Beauvais, for roughly €250.
He recalls that in the early 2000s away ends could be 15 or 20 strong in remote countries, whereas now they can number 4,000. Recent success has added fixtures and costs, with 65 matches in 2024-2025, including seven at the Club World Cup in the United States, and 56 fixtures since last August.
The club has laid on cut-price packages, €100 for the Trophée des champions in Doha late 2024 and €500 for the Club World Cup final in New York in summer 2025. Daniel, a Parc des Princes season-ticket holder for more than 45 years, has attended nearly 80 matches across the past two seasons and says he prioritises travel because he can afford it. A VIP regular, speaking anonymously, reckons he spends over €50,000 a year on flights, hotels and tickets.
