Paris St-Germain have joined Real Madrid and Premier League clubs in the race for Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano.
The France international’s deal is due to expire in the summer and Bayern are yet to reach an agreement with the player on fresh terms. Clubs across Europe are queuing up to sign Upamecano and can approach the 27-year-old about a pre-contract agreement in January.
Manchester United and Liverpool are among the English teams reportedly monitoring the situation.
The latter are eyeing centre-back additions, with current defender Ibrahima Konate another whose deal expires in 2026. Upamecano has been earmarked as a potential replacement for his France teammate at Anfield.
However, Sky Sports Germany are reporting that interest from PSG could complicate Premier League pursuits.
The French and European champions are interested in signing Upamecano to reinforce their defensive options. Luis Enrique wants further depth at centre-back after PSG allowed Presnel Kimpembe to join Qatari side Qatar SC in September.
Bayern Munich have not given up hope of persuading Upamecano to sign a new deal, but are aware of the interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.
The defender has made 168 appearances since joining the Bavarians from RB Leipzig in 2021, and has been named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season on three occasions.
