FC Barcelona have been linked with several interesting players in the last few weeks as they continue to look for a new winger ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

One of the players to have recently emerged on their radar is Bradley Barcola, who has had a good season with Paris Saint-Germain despite no longer being an automatic starter in some of the bigger games under Luis Enrique.

The French winger remains highly rated because of his pace, ability to take on defenders, versatility across the frontline, and his long-term potential. As a result, several top European clubs, including Barcelona, are closely monitoring his situation in Paris.

However, as SPORT has noted while citing a report from L’Équipe, PSG are not looking to allow the player to leave this summer, even though the player himself is not entirely happy with his current role in the team.

The Ligue 1 side reportedly believe Barcola’s reduced importance in certain key matches is not because of any loss of confidence in his quality, but mainly because of the intense competition for places in their attack.

The emergence of Désiré Doué and the presence of players like Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have naturally made it more difficult for him to secure a regular starting spot in the biggest fixtures.

Still, PSG continue to view the Frenchman as an important part of their long-term sporting project. The Parisian side is said to be very happy with the development he has shown since arriving from Olympique Lyonnais.

In fact, some reports in France even suggest PSG are working on an improved contract for the winger amid growing interest from several European giants.

At the same time, there is also an understanding within the club regarding the player’s frustration over his role. L’Equipe recently described him as PSG’s “eternal 12th man” because of how frequently he alternates between starts and appearances from the bench in the most important games.

Thus, while Barcelona remain interested in the winger and continue to keep a close eye on his situation, it would not really be easy for them, or any other interested side, to prise him away from PSG this summer unless the player himself pushes for a move away from the club.
