Real Madrid have been closely monitoring several midfield options as they look to reinforce one of the most important areas of the squad.

One of the names that has frequently appeared on their radar is Vitinha.

The Portuguese midfielder, currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain, has developed into one of the most influential players in the Parisian side.

Because of his consistency, intelligence on the ball and leadership qualities in midfield, Real Madrid reportedly viewed him as an ideal candidate to strengthen their squad in the coming transfer windows.

However, the chances of such a move happening soon appear extremely unlikely.

Shutting down Real Madrid

In a recent interview on the programme Soltinhos pelo mundo on Channel 11 (h/t AS), Vitinha addressed speculation about his future and made it clear that leaving PSG is not currently part of his plans.

“It would be silly to leave. I don’t think it’s the best thing for me. I feel very good here at PSG! I feel that people appreciate me a lot and I have earned that affection.

“I love being here; my family does too. The group is fantastic and the coach is incredible,” he said.

PSG originally signed the midfielder for just over €40 million, a deal that has proven to be extremely successful.

Over the last few seasons, Vitinha has become a key pillar in the Paris squad thanks to his ability to control possession, dictate tempo and contribute both defensively and offensively.

Impossible dream for Real Madrid

Recognising his importance, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi moved quickly last year to secure the midfielder’s future.

The club extended his contract until 2029 and rewarded him with one of the highest salaries in the squad, effectively protecting him from interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.

From Real Madrid’s perspective, Vitinha had been viewed as a potential solution to the growing need for midfield reinforcement.

For now, though, the Portuguese star appears fully committed to continuing his journey with PSG.

While Real Madrid may still admire his qualities, the midfielder’s recent comments suggest that any potential move will not happen anytime soon.
