During the summer transfer window, Man United were able to get a number of discarded players off their books. Antony re-joined Real Betis on a permanent deal, Rasmus Hojlund headed to Napoli on loan with an obligation to buy, while academy graduate Marcus Rashford also moved on to Barcelona.

Rashford has had a fine start to life in Catalonia, where he has registered six goals and seven assists in 18 appearances. Barcelona have been very pleased with him, which is why there has already been talk of them activating their option to buy at the end of the season.

However, Barcelona may not be able to afford Rashford if they cannot sort out their financial woes, and this could allow another European giant to pounce.

In recent weeks, PSG have been linked with a move for Rashford, although Pete O’Rourke (via Football Insider) still expects the England international to formally swap Man United for Barcelona next summer.

“I don’t think PSG will have a massive impact. Barcelona are still in the driving seat to sign Rashford on a permanent basis.

“They’ve got that £30m option in the initial loan deal to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal and it does seem that there is a willingness from all parties to get a deal done. He is happy at Barcelona having moved away from Manchester United. He has found something of his best form at the Nou Camp.

“He’s got six goals and eight assists in 17 games for Barca. He’s won his place back in the England squad as well now so it looks like he will be part of Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad as long as he stays fit.”

Man United are hoping for Marcus Rashford sale

Man United will not be too fussed about where Rashford goes, as long as they get as much money as possible from selling him. His time at the club is already certainly over, and it should become official next summer.
