Luis Enrique will rest Matveï Safonov, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha for Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 home game against Lorient at 17:00 on the 32nd matchday, with 19-year-old Renato Marin to make his first start in goal.

According to L'Équipe, the rotation comes four days before the Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich. Safonov was left out after suffering cramps late in Tuesday’s 5-4 game against the Bavarians. With Lucas Chevalier injuring his right thigh in training on Wednesday and ruled out for several weeks, Marin steps up.

The Italian will be backed by academy keepers Arthur Vignaud, 18, as understudy, and Bilal Laurendon, 20. Vignaud has been the usual number two in the Youth League behind Martin James and played in Bilbao on 10 December, a 1-1 draw where he impressed. With James out for the season with a left knee injury, Vignaud also started the Gambardella Cup semi-final, a 2-1 win over Nantes on 26 April.

Vignaud has made 13 appearances for the under-19s this season and one with the Espoirs side. Born in Issy-les-Moulineaux, he joined PSG at 13 and is seen as a well-rounded prospect aligned with the first-team staff’s preferred profile. He is under contract until June and has a renewal offer he has yet to accept.

Luis Enrique has also promoted other academy players into the squad to face Lorient, namely Thomas Cordier, Samba Coulibaly and Pierre Mounguengue.
