Renato Marin’s first Ligue 1 start ended in a 2-2 draw with Lorient. The Paris Saint-Germain teenager had little he could do for either goal, then denied Aiyegun Tosin late on to avoid defeat.
L'Équipe notes that Matveï Safonov was rested and Lucas Chevalier is injured, so Luis Enrique started the 19-year-old Italian to prepare him as Safonov’s deputy before Wednesday’s trip to Munich. He had previously only played in a 4-0 Coupe de France win at Fontenay-le-Comte on 20 December 2025.
Pablo Pagis opened the scoring on 12 minutes with a cross-shot. Aiyegun Tosin later beat him via the inside of the post on 78 minutes after Marin had narrowed the angle.
At 2-2, Marin produced the key save on 83 minutes, stopping Tosin after the forward had gone past Willian Pacho. Lorient scored twice from three shots on target and five attempts, with an xG of 0.79.
He looked composed under pressure and tidy with the ball, favouring short distribution, and completed 15 of 17 passes. Work at the Campus de Poissy aligns with Luis Enrique’s demands and suits his futsal background.
Dro Fernandez judged Marin a top goalkeeper who shows it daily and had done his job well. Luis Enrique reiterated PSG have three high-level keepers, said Marin was ready and had done well, and will hope there is no need to prove it again midweek.
