Reigning double European champions Paris Saint-Germain begin their season on Wednesday at 21:00 in Salzburg, chasing the UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa.
Three weeks ago Fabian Ruiz lifted the World Cup, while Ousmane Dembélé and PSG's Frenchmen lost 6-4 to England in the United States. According to Le Progres, several only returned to club duty on Monday after short breaks.
A year ago PSG needed penalties to beat Tottenham, 2-2 then 4-3, to lift this trophy. It followed a Club World Cup final loss to Chelsea a month earlier, trimming pre-season.
Fabian Ruiz, Dembélé, Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola only returned to Poissy on Monday, so their involvement in Austria is not guaranteed. Joao Neves, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Marquinhos resumed a week earlier and played about half an hour in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Manchester United in Gothenburg.
PSG looked sharper there than three days earlier in Palma, where a youthful side lost 3-0 to Mallorca, relegated to Spain's second tier. Against Villa, PSG should also be able to call on Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco and defender Lucas Digne, a former Villan.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia enjoyed a break with Georgia absent. Enrique must juggle minutes to avoid a repeat of last autumn's injuries.
Four days later comes the Trophée des Champions against Lens. PSG then return to the Parc des Princes on 23 August to face Rennes, before the Champions League draw on 27 August, with treble dreams in mind.
