Two-time Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain begin their season in the UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa.

According to L'Équipe, 34-year-old Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan will take charge, having missed the World Cup after being turned away by the United States. UEFA has appointed him amid institutional tensions with FIFA, and it will be his first game on European soil.

Luis Enrique’s side go into the game after a 0-3 defeat to Mallorca and a 1-1 draw with Manchester United. They will look to retain the Super Cup they won last year against Tottenham after a shootout, 2-2, 4-3 on penalties.
