PSG/Aston Villa – Major absence confirmed

Amadou Onana, Aston Villa and Belgium’s 24-year-old midfielder, suffered a serious injury during the World Cup round of 16 against the United States. The Athletic reports that it is an anterior cruciate ligament tear, with an expected absence of around 7–8 months.

Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during Belgium’s victory over the United States on Monday.

It is a huge blow for Belgium and Aston Villa, and of course for the player himself. We now know that Onana will miss the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain on August 12. It is the first major absence, while others could follow, notably “because of” the holidays after the World Cup. In any case, we wish Onana strength and a speedy recovery.
