The African Football Confederation has announced the three finalists for the 2025 African Player of the Year award, with Achraf Hakimi (PSG) joined by Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray). The winner will be revealed on Wednesday, 19 November, in Rabat.

Hakimi heads into the ceremony as a clear frontrunner after a standout campaign under Luis Enrique. The Moroccan international delivered 11 goals and 16 assists in 55 appearances, playing a decisive role in PSG’s historic treble — Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and the club’s first-ever Champions League title, complemented by the UEFA Super Cup.

The 27-year-old has taken on a new level of responsibility this season, becoming one of PSG’s key creative players as well as becoming a leader in the side. A win in Rabat would make Hakimi the first Moroccan to lift the award since Mustapha Hadji in 1998.

Mohamed Salah remains a perennial contender following another productive year at Liverpool, while Victor Osimhen has revived his form at Galatasaray after an uneven final season at Napoli.GFFN | George Boxall
