PSV, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid showing interest in NEC Nijmegen stars | OneFootball

De Telegraaf is reporting that NEC Nijmegen duo Basar Önal and Sami Ouaissa are attracting interest from a number of clubs. According to the Dutch paper, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid are just two of a number of clubs who are interested in signing Önal in the summer. Ouaissa is attracting interest slightly closer to home, with PSV keen on the Dutch/Moroccan winger. NEC are trying to extend his contract at the moment to ensure they can get the maximum out of any sale. Alongside PSV, clubs in France, Germany and Italy are also keeping an eye on Ouaissa.

NEC are having a fantastic season in the Eredivisie, as well as the domestic cup. It is not surprising that clubs like Aston Villa and PSV are keen to pick up some of their players in the summer. Önal is only 21-years-old and joined the club in 2024 from second tier side De Graafschap. In 83 games for his former side, Önal had scored 19 goals and chipped in with 11 assists. After just one goal in 36 games last season, Önal has really pushed on. So far, the winger has played 27 games for NEC, grabbing eight goals and seven assists.

Ouaissa, who is also just 21 and can represent the Netherlands or Morocco, also joined the side from the second tier. He began his senior career with Roda and made the move in 2024. He took the the Eredivisie well in his first campaign at a higher level, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 36 games. So far this season he has gone one better in terms of goals with eight, while also having provided two assists.
