Erick Pulgar asked to be substituted after contributing to Flamengo’s goal against Mirassol, leaving in discomfort following a heavy challenge at the Maracanã on Wednesday.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the incident has raised concern at Flamengo. At 14 minutes, Mirassol surrendered possession in Flamengo’s half, and Pulgar released a long pass to Samuel Lino before Pedro set up Carrascal to finish.
Soon after, Pulgar collided with Fernandinho in midfield. He tried to continue but could not, and Leonardo Jardim replaced him with Evertton Araújo so the club could evaluate a possible injury.
The setback came on the day his contract extension to 2029 was announced. It was also his seventh consecutive start under Leonardo Jardim.
His early withdrawal removes the risk of a booking this round, as he began the match one yellow from a suspension.
Flamengo visit Remo on Sunday six, from 16:00 Brasília time, at the Mangueirão in Belém, in the 26th round of the Brasileirão. The club hope he will be available.
The report suggested there was no malice from Fernandinho and that Pulgar’s pain might relate more to a heavy run of games. It added that, even if there is no injury, resting him against Remo would help preserve him and avoid the risk of a third yellow ruling him out of Corinthians.
