QPR are lining up a move for Colchester United forward Samson Tovide as the Hoops look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 Championship campaign,
Tovide is now in the final year of his contract at the club after they triggered a one-year option.
He made his professional debut in November 2020 and has played 101 times for Colchester at just 21 years old.
While he has only scored 14 times in all competitions, he added seven goals and five assists last term, despite missing a large part of the season due to a hamstring injury.
Speaking to Football League World, R's Fan Pundit Louis Moir believes that bringing in Tovide would bring a new element to Julien Stephan's attack.
"He seems like he has got a ridiculous amount of pace and strength for someone so young," said Louis when asked whether a deal would be a wise investment. "I have been calling for it for ages, we need another option up front with a bit of pace."
"We had that with Sinclair Armstrong; he had the pace but didn't have the goals to go with it."
"While it may take a while for Tovide to develop, you are always going to cause problems in this league if you have pace and strength."
Louis was also asked as to just what he thinks this means for Charlie Kellman, who netted 21 times while out on loan with Leyton Orient last term; however, he emphasised that he believes Kelman's future is already decided.
"I think that Kelman is going to leave regardless," said Louis. "So I would be excited to see one or two strikers come in with Kelman being sold and Alfie Lloyd going out on loan."
"I think it would be a wise investment, and, personally, it is the option we have been crying out for across multiple seasons now to give us a different dynamic up front. If he develops, then we could well see another Sinclair Armstrong that is capable of getting more goals."
QPR have rejected an initial offer from Charlotte FC for forward Kelman, according to Fabrizio Romano. The MLS team are hoping to strengthen their forward options after Patrick Agyemang’s move to Derby County.
Recent reports also suggest that Luton Town carry an interest in the forward, while links to West Bromwich Albion have cooled.
Kelman is entering the final year of his current contract with the Hoops, which has led to uncertainty over his future at Loftus Road.
The 23-year-old spent last season on loan with Leyton Orient, contributing 21 goals and five assists from 46 appearances in the regular League One campaign.
And with the club eyeing up forward options, all the signs point in the direction of Kelman potentially being close to the exit door at Loftus Road.
