FLW's QPR fan pundit has named Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni as the one player he would love to see the club sign this summer.

It looks set to be an exciting season for Queens Park Rangers in the Championship after a strong summer of transfer activity.

After a strong start to life under Julien Stephan, QPR sat as high as seventh in the Championship table in late December, but a disappointing second half of last season saw them fall away from the play-off places, eventually finishing 15th.

Scoring goals was not an issue for QPR last season, but defensive vulnerabilities prevented them from mounting a serious challenge for the play-offs, with only bottom side Sheffield Wednesday conceding more than the 73 goals the R's shipped.

As Stephan looks to fix his side's frailties at the back, the Hoops have brought in two new goalkeepers this summer, with Pierce Charles joining on loan from Manchester City and Calum Ward making a permanent move from Motherwell, while defenders Tariq Lamptey and Boy Kemper have arrived from Fiorentina and NAC Breda respectively.

QPR have also signed former Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara on a season-long loan from French side Reims, while one of the club's existing midfielders, Nicolas Madsen, has signed a new contract at Loftus Road.

However, with senior players such as Paul Nardi, Steve Cook, Isaac Hayden, Sam Field and Zan Celar among those who have departed, Stephan may be keen to strengthen further before the end of the window to add greater depth to his squad.

When asked which one player he would love to see the club sign this summer, FLW's QPR fan pundit Louis Moir claimed that the R's should target an ambitious loan move for Liverpool midfielder Trey Nyoni.

Nyoni made his debut for the Reds at the age of 16 years and 243 days in February 2024, and he has featured 20 times for the Premier League giants so far, but with first team opportunities at Anfield likely to be limited this season, Louis believes a temporary switch to Loftus Road could be perfect for his development.

"It might be ambitious, but we've got to show ambition, and so far we're doing that," Louis told FLW.

"One player who looks really eye-catching is Trey Nyoni from Liverpool.

"He seems to be doing really well for Liverpool in pre-season, but will he realistically start for them in the Premier League? No.

"Will he get minutes if he stays there? Maybe, but I just think he could benefit from having a season on loan in the Championship.

"He looks like a properly talented midfielder.

"He's really good on the ball, he can break play, pass forward, he seems to be one of those deep-lying playmakers in a way.

"Yes, it might seem really ambitious, but you've seen from us signing Pierce Charles, Man City were happy to loan him to us.

"We've had loans before from big Premier League clubs, and I just think we are in need of another midfielder.

"With Glen Kamara signing and Trey Nyoni on loan, that could be a real game changer in midfield.

"He ticks the boxes in terms of what we're actually looking at from a midfield profile as well.

"It will be interesting to see if Liverpool loan him where he does go.

"He looks a real talent, and I think he's got a big career ahead of him, he's only 19 as well.

"What he's shown for Liverpool is someone who has got a lot of ability and potential, and I think he's someone we could be talking about as a top midfielder across Europe in a few years time.

"He looks really exciting, and if he goes on loan to anyone, they would be lucky to have him.

"He just looks a real star and fits the profile of what we need as well."

QPR have already loaned one player from the Premier League this summer, and not only is Charles an excellent goalkeeper who will help improve the R's defensive record, but his arrival could have another benefit for the West London outfit.

After signing Charles from Sheffield Wednesday, there is no doubt that Man City would have had plenty of Championship offers on the table for the talented shot-stopper, but the fact they chose to send him to Loftus Road for the season is a big vote of confidence in the Hoops' project.

If QPR are viewed as a good destination for young players to develop, more top flight clubs may consider loaning them their brightest prospects, and that could give them a big advantage in the race for players like Nyoni, who could become available towards the end of the window.
