FLW's QPR fan pundit gives his verdict on Loic Remy's time with the club
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Queens Park Rangers broke their club record by bringing Loic Remy to the club back in January 2013.
Loic Remy became QPR's club-record signing back in January 2013, after joining the Hoops for £8 million from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille on a four-and-a-half-year deal, with it being reported that the striker was earning £80,000 per week.
After his signing coming somewhat as a surprise, as well as there being a buzz around Loftus Road upon his arrival, Remy introdcued himself to the QPR faithful by scoring 14 minutes into his debut against West Ham. QPR fans believed they had landed a gem in what proved to be a relegation-battling season which they were unable to avoid.
In the one season that the French forward was at QPR, he featured 14 times in the league and scored six goals. Numbers that were underwhelming for a player that had reached double digits in back-to-back seasons in France before making the move to London.
Ultimately, Remy's time with the R's didn't live up to fans' expectations, especially given the fact he was the club's record signing. Unsurprisingly, there were glimpses of the striker's brilliance and why the club signed the striker, but even his best efforts weren't enough to see them retain their Premier League status the following year.

Having only been with QPR for half a season, it was quite clear that after facing relegation, Remy fell into the category of players that were too good to go down and was loaned to Newcastle United the following season, where he made a keen impression by netting 14 league goals.
As for Remy's half a year prior to moving up north, Football League World's QPR fan pundit, Louis, believes that Remy is one of the best strikers that the club has possessed in recent years, and hadn't relegation happened, they could have received the Frenchman's best years of his career.
Louis said: "Loic Remy wasn't at the club long at all, and it was one of those signings when at the time, it was unbelievable, but it just did not seem to suit QPR as a club at the time."
"It was just a shame that we were fighting relegation and then obviously went down, and he scored some real good goals for us. That goal at home to Wigan was probably one of the best goals I've seen live. I've not seen a player do that and the quality he had to finish that."
"I'm confident, you know, I'm so sure that he would've scored a tonne more goals for us if we had him across a whole season. You could just see the quality he had. In Europe and obviously him playing in France, to join QPR at the time was a real top, top signing. It was really exciting."

For FLW's QPR fan pundit, Louis, he believes that had Remy had more time at Loftus Road to settle into life in England and the pace of the game then he could've become a cult hero. However, even in his short time with the club, he certainly gave the impressionn of one of the most talented players that the club has had on their books.
Louis said: "He did his best for us in terms of goals and his output, but one of many signings that during our time in the Premier League, not just that time, but in other years as well, where it just did not work long-term because of the way the club was. You had players like that in a club that was fighting relegation."
"But, yeah, Remy in recent years, he's up there with some of the best strikers we've had. It's hard to say in current Premier League years if we've had [many better]. Obviously we had Charlie Austin but in terms of pure quality and a player who would have clearly gotten more goals, Loic Remy is up there. He was a top class striker he was."
Post-QPR, Remy went on to become somewhat of a journeyman with spells at fellow London clubs Chelsea and Crystal Palace, before making the move back overseas to Spain and Turkey.
