But speaking to the R's media team, the defender revealed that he just focused on his football, with his family settling well in the English capital.

The central defender has struggled with injuries during his time at Loftus Road, but he has been a real asset when fit and it was no major surprise when he was linked with moves to other clubs during the summer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were one side believed to be interested in securing an agreement for him, but they were unable to bring him in, with the QPR man failing to come in as a replacement for Max Kilman at Molineux.

In the end, this failed move may be a blessing in disguise for the ex-Chelsea man, considering the Midlands side have started the season poorly under Gary O'Neil and are clearly struggling.

Other Championship players were also linked with moves to Molineux, with Sheffield United key man Anel Ahmedhodzic and Luton Town's Teden Mengi also believed to have been on their radar.

However, those two also remained with their respective clubs, along with Clarke-Salter.

The QPR centre-back has just put pen to paper on a new contract at Loftus Road, with this announcement coming during a busy evening yesterday.

Not only did he sign a new contract, but Karamoko Dembele completed a permanent move to the R's and manager Martí Cifuentes and his assistant Xavi Calm have signed extensions to extend their stays in the English capital.

This is all good news for the R's, who seem to be heading in the right direction now.

And with QPR resisting interest in Clarke-Salter from other teams this year, including Wolves, Crystal Palace and Celtic, they can benefit from his presence for an extended period of time.

Speaking about the previous speculation about his future, he said: "Obviously that was reported – I just tried to focus on the football because myself and my family have really enjoyed my time at QPR so far. My kids are settled here.

"I love working with Martí, with the good players we have – hopefully we’re building something exciting. I’m really happy to be part of it. I love it here.

"The fans have been really supportive and get behind me, as do my team-mates."

Clarke-Salter has suffered his fair share of injuries in recent years, so it's good for him to put pen to paper on a new deal.

And with his family seemingly settled in the area, Loftus Road could be the place where he spends much of the remainder of his career.

There also seems to be real stability at Loftus Road with Cifuentes and Calm recently putting pen to paper on new deals.

Not only this, but the R's also have a decent playing squad, with their summer investment likely to help their cause in the coming months.
