Queens Park Rangers will be hoping for an enjoyable 2024/25 Championship season under the stewardship of Marti Cifuentes, who managed to keep the Loftus Road side in the second tier last term with a game to spare last term despite the fact that the club sat 23rd in the Championship when he took over in late October.

The Spaniard will be keen to show what he can do in his first full season in charge of the R's and will hope that his team can endure a comfortable campaign.

R's forward Sinclair Armstrong recently had his contract extension triggered but he may be leaving West London regardless, with both Stoke City and Bristol City interested in his services.

The Bristol Post revealed that the Robins are keen on the 21-year-old just one summer after signing centre-half Rob Dickie from the W12 outfit.

But The Irish Examiner correspondent has subsequently reported that the Potters are keen to hijack the West Country side's move for the Ireland international.

There have been suggestions, however, that Stoke are not able to make the move until they sell a player of their own.

Last season, Armstrong managed three goals and three assists in 39 Championship outings, but at a young age he has plenty of time to improve his goal productivity, which is one of the reasons why he is attracting transfer interest from fellow second tier outfits.

Carlton Palmer issues Isaac Hayden warning

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden spent the second half of last campaign on loan with Cifuentes' men, and he impressed at Loftus Road.

As per the Northern Echo, the R's are keen on pursuing a permanent deal for the 29-year-old but are unable to match his current wages with the Magpies.

In a Football League World exclusive, former England international and current pundit Carlton Palmer said: "It looks like the stumbling block is his salary.

"Newcastle have made it clear that he is surplus to requirements and QPR would like to make this a permanent deal.

"Obviously, with Chris Willock going to Cardiff, that will free up some money.

"It's come out that the player himself is keen to be part of Cifuentes' team, but no agreement on personal terms has been reached, and that will be needed to get the deal over the line.

"If the deal can't be done, then QPR will look to loan him again for the season, but Newcastle are keen to get Hayden off of their wage bill."

But Palmer also warned that the R's won't be the only party interested in Hayden's signature: "There will be other clubs that are interested in him in the Championship too.

Albert Adomah update issued

Football League stalwart Albert Adomah, who has enjoyed spells with the likes of Bristol City, Middlesbrough, and Aston Villa, left the R's earlier this summer following the expiration of his contract.

Birmingham World revealed that the 36-year-old played for League Two side Walsall during a pre-season friendly with non-league outfit Alvechurch.

Last season, Adomah failed to register a single-goal contribution in 16 Championship outings and just two starts, but there is every chance that he could still be a real asset for the Saddlers in the fourth tier next campaign.
