QPR's summer transfer window has gone under the radar slightly, but the Hoops have backed new manager Julien Stephan with players ready to make an outside run at the play-offs.

The one man who has gone even further under the radar in an already underrated window has been Ruman Burrell. Richard Kone gets a lot of the limelight, and rightly so, but Burrell's impact since arriving from Burton Albion can't be ignored, either.

The Jamaican international was playing in the third tier in Scotland with Cove Rangers two seasons ago, and now is one of the more feared attackers in the second tier in England, due in part mainly to his terrifying pace and composure in front of goal.

For just over £1 million, the 24-year-old is turning into a bit of a steal, and FLW's Hoops fan pundit, Louis Moir, can't stop singing his praises.

QPR fan pundit waxes lyrical over Rumarn Burrell — "he's been so impressive"

Moir wasn't expecting Burrell to make such an impact, but he's happy to admit that he's been proven wrong.

"I think the signing of Rumarn Burrell has been one which has been better than what anyone would have thought. It's really gone under the radar for a lot of Championship teams and their fanbases," he told Football League World.

"When we signed him, it was sort of out of the blue, and no one knew it was going to happen. I'd not really heard of him.

"Coming from Burton, a cheap signing, it looked like he was going to add lots of pace, but he's more than that. He's got an eye for goal, and he's been at his best when he's been up there with Richard Kone — those two are an absolute danger for defences at this level."

Kone takes a lot of the focus of opposition defenders, but after a couple of goals in consecutive games against Millwall and Swansea City, defences are being forced to pay close attention to Burrell.

The 24-year-old's pace makes him a handful for any defenders, whether he starts or comes off the bench, but unlike most who rely on their speed, he has a calm eye for goal, too.

Moir knows from watching him that "he has a lot more in his game."

"He's a very clever player," he added.

"His goals at Wrexham and Swansea; those are two good finishes, and any decent striker at this level would be proud of them. He's a threat to defences whether he starts or not, and he gives us that other option up front.

"He can stretch teams and give us a different sort of dynamic up there. Genuinely, he's been brilliant and so impressive.

"To come from a struggling League One side at Burton and not look out of place in the Championship shows we've got a player on our hands here, and if he carries on what he's doing, running in behind and creating space, he'll score more goals, too.

"It'll create more for our other attacking threats, as well, like Kone. I really like what I've seen from him, and I've been really impressed. He's shown that he's capable of starting games, and I think he's a signing who went under the radar."

Rumarn Burrell is one of the more astute signings this summer - QPR could make an unlikely play-off run

Anyone who watched Burrell in League One last season knew that he was destined for bigger and better things, but his 11-goal tally didn't jump off the page, and he was left for sides with fewer expectations to sweep him up.

QPR did so, and his quality, alongside Kone's, is shooting the Hoops back into life. Not many defences have figured out how to stop the dynamic duo thus far.

The R's have shown this summer that bringing in young, hungry and, overall, quality players from the third tier could be what transforms a side from mid-table mediocrity to one that has a little bit of life within it.

It's been a tough decade for QPR, with just one finish inside the top 10 of the Championship since their relegation back to the second tier. However, under Julien Stephan and with this exciting, fast-paced side, the Hoops could be in with a chance of creeping into the top six by the end of the campaign.
