That is according to Football Insider, which states that the Rs are likely to drive a hard bargain for the defender but will not stand in his way should he want to leave.

The West London side have got preparations underway for the new Championship season, with the club keen to avoid a repeat of the last two seasons.

QPR looked set for relegation to League One, but the arrival of Marti Cifuentes helped the club steer clear of trouble.

The hope will be that the club can now kick on from last season and start to climb the Championship table.

To do so, QPR will be looking to keep hold of their best players, but it appears as though Clarke-Salter will likely be allowed to leave should the club receive the right fee.

It was reported by Football Insider earlier this week that Wolves had joined the race to sign Jake Clarke-Salter.

The report stated that the Premier League side is in the market for a new defender after seeing Max Kilman leave to join West Ham.

It went on to add that Wolves have admired the QPR defender and they have watched him on several occasions throughout last season.

In the latest update from Football Insider, Wolves have been told by QPR that it will take a bid of £10 million to sign Clarke-Salter this summer.

The report states that the Rs will not stand in his way should he want to leave but are looking to drive a hard bargain for the player.

The West Londoners are thought to be aware that it would be difficult to talk him out of a move to the Premier League.

It was reported by Football Insider back in April that teams such as Crystal Palace, Burnley, and AFC Bournemouth are interested in Jake Clarke-Salter.

The report also stated that there was interest from Scottish Premiership side Celtic, but neither of these teams have yet to make a concrete move for the player.

As well as these sides being interested, it was reported by The Telegraph’s John Percy in May that Stoke City had joined the race for the 26-year-old.

At the time, it was claimed that it would cost between £5-7 million, with the Potters having him as a top target in this transfer window.

However, it now appears as though QPR have a much higher price tag in mind, and Wolves have moved ahead of the rest in the race.

£10 million is a lot for Jake Clarke-Salter

Clarke-Salter has two years remaining on his contract at QPR, so the Rs are able to demand as much as they want for the player as he’s still under contract.

However, QPR will know that they are slightly pushing it by asking for £10 million, as he’s only had one strong season at the club and hasn’t really hit the heights throughout his career.

But the Rs know that Wolves have money in the bank from selling Kilman and they are looking to get a reasonable fee for a defender that was important last season.
