Talks between Marseille and Crystal Palace over Quinten Timber resumed on deadline day, with the midfielder edging towards Selhurst Park, according to RMC Sport.

Marseille are understood to be satisfied with their midfield depth and, seeking funds to meet National Directorate for Financial Control (DNCG) requirements, have opened the door to his departure.

Discussions over a fee of more than €18m have been taking place, alongside Palace and Sunderland attempts to finalise a deal for 21-year-old Malick Fofana. The Belgian could now be heading to the Black Cats.

Timber joined Marseille from Feyenoord for €4.5m last winter.

He has made 17 appearances for the club.
