An interesting storyline emerged during Spain's Nations League clash with Switzerland on Monday.
Heading into the clash, a bit of history was at stake: No player born in the Canary Islands had scored a goal for the Spanish national team in the Canary Islands.
So when Spain were awarded a first-half penalty, the crowd chanted for Alvaro Morata to gift the chance to Canary Islander Pedri.
The Barcelona ace, however, stepped up to the penalty spot and saw his history-making effort saved.
Fortunately for Spain, after a bunch of pinball in the box, Yeremy Pino blasted home to grab the lead over Switzerland.
Interestingly enough, he was the only other player from the Canary Islands on the pitch and ensured he made some history.
Pino and Pedri then celebrated the goal together. Quirky.
