Rafa Mir has lodged a new defence at court, submitting two previously unseen videos. The filing, prepared by lawyer Jaime Campaner, asks for his acquittal ahead of trial.
The case dates back to his Valencia spell, when the complaint that triggered the proceedings was filed. He has repeatedly maintained his innocence and urged a swift hearing.
The defence centres on objective evidence, in this instance audiovisual material, to challenge the complainant’s account. No details of the clips have been disclosed.
Throughout the process Mir has continued his professional activity with Elche, with support from the coaching staff led by Eder Sarabia and his team-mates.
On the pitch he scored his eighth goal of the season against Mallorca in the final match before the break, surpassing recent tallies for club strikers. The prosecution has requested 10 and a half years in prison for a sexual assault offence, which the defence calls disproportionate after the new evidence.
