Rafa Mir officially loaned to Elche

Rafa Mir will wear Elche's colors this season. The striker from Murcia leaves Sevilla FC on a loan deal with an obligatory purchase option.

The 27-year-old traveled to the Martínez Valero stadium on Sunday to finalize his arrival. Sevilla thus offloads one of the highest salaries in their squad, even though part of his wages will still be covered by the Andalusian club.

Sidelined by Matías Almeyda since the start of preseason, Rafa Mir was not part of the manager's plans. At Elche, he joins a project that has been searching for a true number 9—an explicit request from coach Sebastián Beccacece in recent weeks. Rafa Mir can be officially registered as early as Monday and could be included in the squad for the opening La Liga fixture against Betis.
