Elche forward Rafa Mir has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm.
According to L'Équipe, the Valencia court delivered its verdict after a 28 May hearing at the Higher Court of Justice of the Valencian Community. Mir received seven years for sexual assault and 18 months for assault causing bodily harm, relating to offences in September 2024. He was playing for Valencia at the time, on loan from Sevilla.
He is banned from approaching the victim within 500 metres for 10 years. He must also pay 14,000 euros for physical harm and 50,000 euros for psychological harm.
Pablo Jara, a Spanish player and friend of Mir who was with fifth-tier Alcantarilla, was also convicted. He was handed two years for sexual assault and a further six months for an offence against moral integrity. Jara must pay 280 euros for injuries and 6,000 euros for moral harm.
