Wednesday, 21 January is viewed as decisive to finalise the signing of Rafa Silva, who is leaving Besiktas.
According to A Bola, the 32-year-old is already en route to Portugal and could arrive at Humberto Delgado Airport within hours, then take a medical before any announcement.
Indications are that Benfica and Besiktas have reached an agreement over the transfer. While Benfica are in Turin for a Champions League fixture, club officials are working to close the deal this week.
Mário Branco has been central to talks, meeting directly with the Besiktas president to ease obstacles. The fee is expected to be about five million euros, with a further two million in add-ons.
This season for Besiktas, Rafa Silva has played 16 matches, 10 in the league in Türkiye, four in the Europa Conference League and two in Europa League qualifying. Across 1,360 minutes he has scored five goals and recorded three assists.
