Rafael Leao is joining Galatasaray after a dramatic U-turn today, choosing the Istanbul club and a move to Türkiye over a Premier League switch, according to Goal.com.

The Portugal forward had leaned towards accepting Aston Villa's proposal this morning, worth a net €7.5 million per season, before changing his mind after lunch.

Galatasaray have an agreement with the player on a deal to 2030, guaranteeing €12 million per year plus bonuses. AC Milan have also agreed terms, receiving a €40 million fixed fee, €3 million in bonuses and 20% of any future resale.

It had long seemed that Rafael Leao was set to leave. Ruben Amorim said yesterday, on the eve of the Venezia match, that with the right mindset Leao can play for any team and that sometimes it is time to go elsewhere.

Leao joined AC Milan from Lille in summer 2019 and has made 291 appearances, scoring 80 goals and supplying 65 assists. He has won one Serie A title, the 2022 triumph under Pioli, and the 2025 Supercoppa with Conceicao in charge.

Leao's book value as of 30 June 2026 was €11.2 million. Pending official confirmation of the figures, the capital gain should come in at just under €29 million, €28.8 million.
