Rafael Leao pulled on Cristiano Ronaldo's number seven for Portugal in Thursday's UEFA Nations League match, then spoke of his pride.
According to Goal.com, the Galatasaray forward, usually Portugal's number 17, took the iconic shirt after Ronaldo left the national team camp.
Portugal won 4-2 against Denmark.
Leao said wearing number seven felt special because Ronaldo has been his idol since childhood, and he noted his children were born on the seventh, which made him very happy.
He added that he tried to honour both the number and the shirt.
With Ronaldo absent from this international camp, Leao is likely to keep the number for Sunday, when Jorge Jesus's side, top of the standings, face Norway.
