Raffaele Palladino could be emerging as Lazio’s preferred option to succeed Maurizio Sarri.

Il Messaggero reports that Sarri is choosing between Napoli and Atalanta, having asked both for a few more days to finalise his contract termination with president Claudio Lotito. Lotito should grant him leave after recent public and private rows.

Sarri’s call could affect Max Allegri and Bologna’s Vincenzo Italiano, profiles liked by Lotito but deemed too expensive. Both remain serious options for the Napoli bench.

Palladino, 42, is in charge at Atalanta and is not set to be confirmed for next season, with incoming sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli targeting a new start. His agent Giuseppe Riso has told Lazio he is open to talks.

Thiago Motta, cited earlier in the week, is intent on working outside Italy, his agent has indicated. He would also earn more by waiting a year, with his Juventus deal running until June 2027.

Sergio Conceicao has a lucrative Al-Ittihad contract, so it is unclear whether Lazio can tempt him. Sporting director Angelo Fabiani is pushing for Cagliari’s Fabio Pisacane, though concerns over his inexperience mean the appointment might not excite supporters.
