The Daily Mail published on Monday a video of Raheem Sterling driving his Lamborghini minutes before a motorway crash last Thursday.

Hampshire Police arrested the 31-year-old on suspicion of drug driving after he struck motorway safety barriers, and he was released on bail pending enquiries.

The dashcam footage shows him swerving across three lanes and edging close to the central reservation shortly before the collision.

The clip was captured by a driving instructor on holiday with his family, who requested anonymity, and describes a black Lamborghini cutting in abruptly ahead of him in the middle lane, forcing him to slow. He judged the driver fortunate not to cause serious injury.

Sterling has not played for England since the 2-1 quarter-final defeat to France at the 2022 World Cup, as his former team-mates prepare for a tournament running from 11 June to 19 July.

Out of contract at Chelsea after an unsuccessful loan at Arsenal, he joined Feyenoord in February and made eight appearances without scoring.
