Raheem Sterling receives huge ovation on Feyenoord debut | OneFootball

Raheem Sterling was involved in one of the most surprising deals of the January transfer window, after moving to Feyenoord.

The winger signed for the Dutch side as a free agent after his contract at Chelsea was cancelled by mutual consent. Sterling spent the first half of the season in the wilderness at Chelsea, having been frozen out after returning from last season’s loan spell at Arsenal.

The 31-year-old has struggled for form since leaving Manchester City in 2023 and has now headed abroad in search of a fresh start. He has linked up withe ex-Arsenal and Manchester United forward Robin van Persie in Rotterdam, with the latter the club’s head coach.

Sterling made his debut for Feyenoord as a second-half substitute against SC Telstar at the weekend and the reception at De Kuip certainly showed excitement at his arrival. After being introduced for Gijs Smal on 61 minutes, Sterling received a huge ovation from his new supporters. Just listen to that noise.
