Cameron Ashia's performances for the Terriers have caught plenty of attention
Huddersfield Town's mixed season in League One continued this weekend, albeit it was a welcome 2-1 victory for Liam Manning's side in a Yorkshire derby against Barnsley at the Accu Stadium.
Manning's honeymoon period in West Yorkshire appeared to be all-but over in midweek after a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers at the Eco-Power Stadium, meaning it was imperative the Terriers restored some form of momentum against the Tykes on Saturday afternoon.
With plenty of sides in and around Huddersfield in the race for the play-off places faltering, they were able to create a four-point buffer between themselves and seventh-placed Reading thanks to goals from Ryan Ledson and Ryan Hardie in the second period after David McGoldrick initially opened the scoring for the visitors three minutes before the half-time whistle.
Whilst the majority of the crowd in this part of Yorkshire went home feeling satisfied after the Terriers returned to winning ways for the first time since a 3-2 success over Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium on January 31st, it is fair to say that a minor form of anxiety may have crept into the Town fanbase amid reports that they could be set to lose one of their prized assets unless a swift resolution can be made between now and the end of the campaign.

As per a report from Simon Jones of the Daily Mail on Sunday evening, the Terriers' attacking ace, Cameron Ashia, is attracting strong transfer interest in the final weeks of the current campaign, and Town could be set to lose the 20-year-old in the summer.
It has been claimed that the highly-rated prospect's performances, albeit largely as a substitute, in League One this term have caught the eye of clubs in the Championship - none of which have been named - as well as two Scottish Premiership giants in the form of Rangers and current leaders, Hearts.
The attacker made his senior debut for Huddersfield in a 2-1 defeat to Doncaster in the EFL Trophy in September 2024, just six months after penning his first contract with the club after signing as a free agent and linking up with Town's 'B Team' after previously spending time on the books of the Derby County and Sunderland academy setups.
Ashia was then given a chance to showcase his talent by Manning's predecessor, Lee Grant, at the beginning of the current campaign, as he marked his first League One appearance as a nine-minute substitute in the 2-0 win at Reading on August 16th with an assist.
Despite only starting twice in the league, Ashia has also impressed in the EFL Trophy and EFL Cup, where Town faced two Premier League opponents in the form of Sunderland and Manchester City.
Although he has racked up six goals and three assists in 27 outings across all competitions so far this term, he is out-of-contract in the summer, which could allow the likes of Hearts and Rangers to swoop.

Given the aforementioned interest, Town will hope to do all they can to retain Ashia's services in the long-term. However, there is no suggestion that talks between the relevant parties have begun at this moment in time.
After scoring and assisting in two of his past four matches against Blackpool and Barnsley, the English-born Ghanaian will hope he has earned the chance to continue impacting Town's promotion bid, which, in turn, could create a bidding war for his signature in the summer.
