Umar Sadiq, on loan from Roma, was given a rare start for Rangers this weekend in their Betfred semi-final clash with Aberdeen.
It’s a decision that Steven Gerrard most definitely regrets.
In the 83rd minute of their 1-0 defeat, the 23-year-old was through on goal after rounding the goalkeeper, but elected to dive instead of making a legitimate attempt on goal.
The Nigerian striker was given a yellow card, which topped off a very forgettable performance.
After the match, Gerrard took the blame for the loss but also pointed to the players, stating they failed to deliver when it mattered most.
The fans, however, pointed to the horrendous performance of Sadiq, who was making just his third appearance for the club.
It’s safe to say he didn’t win over any supporters this weekend.
