If ever one Rangers player needed a big night in Kilmarnock, it was Macedonian international Bojan Miovski.
With Youssef Chermiti having a dreadful time at Ibrox while Danilo hits a form lull and struggles on his own anyway, the door was open.
And Miovski, derided by fans earlier on Ibrox Noise after we suggested he could finally find form in Ayrshine, picked the right night to score a couple.
Ibrox Noise was against bringing him as a permanent. We wanted it as a loan with option. AKA – if he impressed, he could be made permanent.
Unfortunately the ex-Dons striker has not shone in any way in Govan. But then, has anyone?
Either way, fans had no confidence in him sparkling to life, and mocked the idea he could at Rugby Park. And two goals later, the criticism had reduced.
Miovski had a good one. Rated 8.72 on Whoscored and shining on other stats sites, the hitman, like Connor Barron, may have had his breakout display as a Rangers player. 3 shots, 3 on target, two goals.
You can’t ask a lot more of your striker.
Obviously this was only one match, and there’s a tonne more football to be played, but Rugby Park saw the Aberdeen Miovski, not the Girona one.
If he continues to deliver the goals and makes himself the nuisance he did on the plastic turf of Ayrshire, Rangers might finally see a striker delivering on the investment.
He has the tools, he has the game. Maybe now we’ll see the return.
