Ibrox Noise was amused at a headline this morning inviting Rangers target Kieron Bowie not to join the club. Rangers have been linked with the Hibernian striker now, with a fee reported to be around £6.5 million, as covered in an Ibrox Noise piece rejecting the valuation. Ibrox Noise has vehemently rejected the potential of signing this player. Especially at that kind of price. That is not value for money. We were nevertheless very amused at the headline. It suggested Bowie should not join Rangers and should stay at Hibernian. Without even clicking on the piece, we knew it would be Michael Stewart.
Lo and behold, our suspicions were more than that in fairness. They were confirmed when the former failed Rangers trialee had been advising the Hibs striker. His comments amused us no end. He claimed that the striker has found a bit of form. There is no rush to leave Hibs. What he really means is that Rangers are in pole position to sign Bowie. That is if we choose to do so. That is the last club he wants anyone to go to. The Scottish Sun also reported that Rangers are monitoring Bowie, making Stewart’s desperation all the more transparent.
Michael Stewart is extremely bitter to this very day about his failed trial at Ibrox. He was an average player. We are not going to claim he was a rubbish player. He certainly was not world class and he was a free agent. So he carried out a trial in Govan but did not make the grade. Consequently, he has had a chip on his shoulder about Rangers ever since. He definitely does not like the club. Our full archive of Bowie coverage lays bare the absurdity of even considering him for this level.
In a rare defence of Stewart, he did also mention Celtic. Bowie should also not go to Celtic. We are not entirely sure there are tangible reports of interest from that club, although TransferFeed noted that several clubs in England and Scotland are in the picture. Then again, we have not actually seen any Celtic news ever. Quite frankly, how on earth would we know. Their name was not linked or mentioned in any reports regarding Rangers’ interest. We do know that some Championship clubs are also interested in Bowie.
Rangers have reportedly asked to be kept in the loop. Inside Ibrox confirmed that Hibs boss David Gray is aware of the speculation. We at Ibrox Noise are not in favour of this addition. We want better at Rangers. Andreas Skov Olsen is better. The recent signing Toti Chukwuani is also considerably better. Albeit both of these players are different positions. Nevertheless, Bowie for us does not make the grade. We had to giggle at Michael Stewart trying to ensure that no one comes anywhere near Rangers. Where possible. That boy really is bitter.
