We cannot remember the last time Rangers January spending spent any significant cash in a January transfer window.
In fact, if we overlook the total £3M spent on Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin in January 2023, Rangers have NEVER invested big in this window. Walter Smith was the previous time Rangers spent any big notes, £2M on Kevin Thomson in 2007.

January hasn’t even hit the full halfway point yet and Rangers have already shelled out a club January record of £8M on two quality players.
Tuur Rommens at £3.5M and Tochi Chuckwuani at £4.5M are absolute talents make no mistake, but Rangers spared no expense getting them.
We are actually pretty sure it’s the first winter window in any Scottish club’s history to spend this kind of investment.
Ibrox Noise doesn’t have the time or desire to sift through Celtic’s transfer record during January. We also don’t care.
What we do care about is Rangers investing big money on quality talent and making our team stronger.
And adding a proper number 6 and a left back is making good on some of the promises we learned about.
As Ibrox Noise explained some time ago, Rangers were on the look out for a 6, a left back and a striker. We probably needed a defender too but we already have three arguably four of them on the books.
But the club secured two of the targets already and wanted a winger as well. With Andreas Skov Olsen to be announced in due course, that’s three boxes ticked.
But at the cost the 49ers have invested it’s serious cash.
Never before have we seen a winter window taken this sincerely for our club at this cost.
And with 16 days to go, there may well be even more investment.
The 49ers’ takeover was a mess. Many mistakes were made. But putting hands in pockets and supporting the manager with quality signings is a solid way to get fans onside.
Keep up Rangers January spending and Ibrox Noise might even think you’re ok after all…
