Rangers’ Scott Wright set for 6-figure Championship departure

Scott Wright could be set to land on his feet after Championship cracks Sheffield Wednesday made a move for his signature, with one year left on his Rangers deal set to expire next year.

Owls’ manager Danny Röhl is said to be very interested in Rangers’ surplus winger, who has been told with a host of others that he is no longer required and is set to find a new club this summer, having failed to do so last summer with his ill-fated switch to Turkey.

Wright isn’t disliked by Rangers fans per se, but few-to-none consider him anywhere near good enough for Rangers’ squad never mind the first time, and teeth gnashed whenever he was in the first XI, which, in fairness, was absurdly regular.

And now, finally, it seems like Rangers may be able to ship him away and we have to say his getting the English Championship is a hell of a gig alright, it’s about the best league he could realistically have gotten.

Wages aren’t an issue, Wright is on a modest £6,000pw salary which won’t be a problem for any Championship club, and we’re sure Rohl and company will be happy to give him a little wage boost in there too.

Fee?

He’s barely a £1M in market value, and with a year left Rangers will be content with a 6-figure fee from the Sheffield side. He’s not a burden or a massive wage, but his numbers can be used better elsewhere.
