The exciting Andrew Cavanagh-led 49ers enterprises takeover will kick off a new dawn at Rangers, but the new owners must deal with a few exits amid interest in three of their first-team stars. Ridvan Yilmaz and Robbin Propper are linked to returns to Besiktas and FC Twente, and according to the Daily Express, their standout midfield ace, Mohamed Diomande, has emerged as a transfer target for Everton.

Yilmaz was one of the exciting signings from Besiktas back in the summer of 2022. However, he could never settle in due to persistent injury problems and has now requested facilitation for the transfer, having lost his place to Jefte. The Gers should look to recoup the £5.3m (including add-ons) they invested in the 24-year-old left-back. Negotiation over a fee is underway between the Black Eagles and the Teddy Bears, as revealed by the Turkish outlet Aspor.

Meanwhile, experienced centre-half Robin Propper might script a summer reunion with The Tukkers. The Dutch side had Gustaf Lagerbielke on loan, but the Celtic defender is not expected to be retained for the upcoming campaign.

“(We need) two central defenders, one of whom has to be a real leader, as far as I’m concerned. The profile you’re looking at is that of Robin Pröpper. You need a leader from the back, which will give you a lot more stability.”

Told Arnold Bruggink, who recently stepped down as the technical director at FC Twente. The same has also been claimed by soccernews.nl.

The 31-year-old Dutchman was supposed to cement a regular status. Instead, he lost his place to 36-year-old Leon Balogun at the backend of the 2024-25 season. With the latter’s departure upon the contract expiry, as well as Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Rafael Fernandes’ return to their parent clubs, Rangers must perform a reshuffle in the heart of the backline.

Why Diomande’s Departure Would Be A Major Blow For Rangers

But the exit of Diomande would hurt them the most. The 23-year-old Ivorian has depicted his versatility in midfield since joining from Nordsjælland. He has been comfortable as a deep-lying playmaker, in a box-to-box role, and even as a ‘number 10′ or left midfielder.

Everton will undergo a midfield revamp under David Moyes, following the exit of Abdoulaye Doucoure as a free agent and the expiration of Lyon star Orel Mangala’s season-long loan. The Rangers youngster has emerged as one of the Toffees’ transfer targets, and it will be interesting to follow how the newly appointed sporting director, Kevin Thelwell and technical director, Dan Purdy, handle this situation since making the move to Ibrox from the blue half of Merseyside. Both Propper and Yilmaz are replaceable, but the Gers might struggle to find someone who would emulate Diomande’s all-round traits and creative spark in the middle of the park.
