Rangers have been given a glowing recommendation by Borna Barisic to sign NK Osijek midfielder Marko Soldo, according to Daily Mail.

The Ibrox club want a midfielder and a winger in January, and the 21-year-old fits the bill, and technical director Nils Koppen likes what he sees in him.

A bid from Rangers for Soldo in January is looking increasingly likely, with the Ibrox hierarchy impressed after what Barisic has told them.

While the young Croatian now primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, he grew up playing as a winger and remains a versatile player given his attacking and defensive qualities.

Soldo is valued at around £2 million and Rangers could do with his experience as he once lined up for Dinamo Zagreb, HNK Sibenik and HNK Gorica, and already has experience of playing in European qualifiers.

Securing his services could see manager Philippe Clement free up Mohamed Diomande to play further forward, and the move could hugely benefit the Light Blues as they look to end 2024-25 with silverware.

Soldo can also play as a centre-back and has scored six goals and weighed in with four assists in the Croatian top-flight so far this term.

Winning aerial duels and tackles are some of his defensive qualities, while the Rangers target is an excellent ball carrier who loves to regularly get inside the opposition box.

Barisic knows what it takes to play for the Bears and is fully convinced his compatriot has everything Rangers need as they look to re-establish themselves as a force to reckon with in Scotland again, and landing him next month would be huge.
