Claudio Ranieri, a guest at the CONI Hall of Honor to receive the “Italians in the World” award, shared some comments with the media. It was a significant moment for the coach, who spoke passionately and candidly about his successes, his dreams, and his connection to Roma.
When asked what this award meant to him, Ranieri replied: “It means a lot; it’s an award that makes me very proud. Abroad, people only talk about spaghetti, mandolin, and so on, but there are so many who have made Italian history abroad.”
This recognition highlights not only the value of Ranieri’s career, but also his contribution as an ambassador for Italy around the world.
When asked what award he would give to Roma for 2025, Ranieri avoided the topic, saying: “No, let’s leave Roma alone. We’re in a different context here; I don’t like talking about sports. Today is a very important match, and that’s it.”
Recalling his early days, Ranieri confessed that as a young man, “my heart only beat when I went to watch Roma at the Olimpico,” and he never even dreamed he’d end up wearing the Giallorossi jersey. “My dreams have come true, and I’m very satisfied with what I’ve achieved,” he continued, responding to those who asked if he ever imagined he’d get to where he is today.
Regarding the future, Ranieri has no doubts: “Dreams are always there, the man who stops dreaming is done. I have so many dreams to realize, and you have to work hard to achieve them.” Despite an extraordinary career, the coach still has goals to pursue, a sign of a constant desire to grow and improve.
Finally, Ranieri spoke about his experience with Roma and last year’s feat, when he led the team to significant milestones. “I was fortunate to have some golden boys, and behind us we had all the people and fans who always supported us,” Ranieri said, acknowledging the fans’ crucial role in the team’s success.
“When I arrived I said that without the help of the fans I wouldn’t have made it,” he added.
