Rashford has returned to Manchester United following his season-long loan spell at Barcelona last season.

The 28-year-old has not played for Manchester United since December 2024, after being frozen out by former manager Ruben Amorim.

After loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona, he has returned to training under Michael Carrick and looks increasingly likely to rejoin the first-team squad this season.

During his time away from the club, Rashford’s number 10 shirt was re-allocated to Matheus Cunha. As a result, Rashford has been designated the number 14 for the 2026/27 season, previously worn by Christian Eriksen, close friend Jesse Lingard, and Javier Hernandez.

Rashford returned to training this week after featuring for England at the 2026 World Cup. He’ll join Carrick’s squad ahead of Wednesday’s friendly with Leeds United in Dublin.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Rashford is set to stay at Manchester United unless an offer arrives from a ‘top European club’.

The England international has no intention of moving to Saudi Arabia or Turkey, despite approaches from clubs in those countries. Barcelona turned down the option to sign Rashford permanently for £26m, after opting to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
